For many women, what was once thought of as an adolescent right of passage—acne—has actually still remained a problem well into adulthood. Regardless of age, anyone who has acne-ridden skin knows that it’s an ongoing battle to not only treat the blemishes already on our faces but to prevent them from coming back.
Sometimes the best thing to do when fighting acne is to go back to basics, to go natural. When it comes to treating (and cleansing) your skin naturally, goats milk is a natural, very powerful ingredient that packs a lot of benefits. Because of its lactic acid content, goat milk soap can help control and prevent acne. Lactic acid is a natural exfoliant that gently removes dead skin cells, which helps prevent acne by keeping pores clear of dirt, oil, and excess sebum. Plus, goat milk soap is gentle and can help maintain the skin’s moisture. This is unlike many face cleansers containing harsh ingredients that can dry out the skin, potentially leading to excess oil production and clogged pores.
We’ve created goats milk soap products using powerful natural ingredients to double the effect without harsh chemicals or GMOs. Keep reading for our top 3 natural goat milk remedies for acne-prone skin!

There’s something so satisfying about crafting your own homemade creation, whether the goal is to exfoliate away dead skin before you apply self-tanner, help boost circulation, or just improve the overall look and feel of your skin. And doing all of this with ingredients in your cupboard is just the cherry on top. Below, we’ve sourced recipes for various skin needs using some of our favourite natural ingredients.

2 cups of white sugar
1/2 to 2/3 cup of melted organic virgin unrefined coconut oil (Note: use 2/3 cup if you like your scrub more moist than rough)

]]>Meet Mackenzie Hope and her mom Cindy Hope, the mother-daughter duo behind the Happy Body Collection.
What drove you to create Happy Body together?
CH - Out of necessity originally for Mackenzie – her skin needed the moisture and nutrients and I could not get my head around using products with chemicals on an infant - then as years went on and chatting with others it was clear we needed to share! Mackenzie can be credited for separating the beauty products from our farm and coming up with the company name of Happy Body Collection.
MH – Having used it at a very young age, it's all I knew. I would receive gifts of other products and once using them once or twice I always came back to our products – it made my skin “happy” and “healthy” and “collection” would allow us to create a full line!
What does collaboration look like for you?
CH - Diversity! In my experience skill set and expertise is only a part of a successful business. The personalities and experiences that we bring to the table gives us an opportunity to learn from each other. I learn from Mackenzie every day – her ideas embrace a much younger generation and I can not even begin to grasp the technological world we live in today.
What roles have you played in building the business over the years?
MH – Creativity! I love the chance to be creative and think I have been able to do that with mom over the years – I can remember the two of us over a bowl of soap as mom sparingly poured essential oils in and the two of us arguing, well I guess debating if there was enough scent! It was fun – but I love that creative part of the business. Mom brings the leadership and organization for us.
What are the best parts of working together?
CH – The energy is endless!! Mother-daughter relationships do not come without conflict, as we live together and work together every day but the energy drives us and keeps us focused.
Any favourite memories together?
CH – Many for me – but if I can summarize them – it is the joy of standing back at functions/ shows/ events and watching Mackenzie interact with customers and explaining the products we have developed. She has been doing that since she was 10 and then to see how adults not only reacted to her age and the information – is just amazing! So I have many memories!
Any proud achievements?
MH – when we got an invitation to attend the Toronto International Film Festival – to think somehow our product ended up in California, and they sought us out. Mom got the email and ignore it as she thought it was SPAM mail, then a second email and she showed me and we both thought SPAM mail. Then a phone call to our home – that was pretty amazing.
CH – every time we get an email, comment on our social media platforms, private message, direct message of customers telling us how much our products mean to them, how much they love a product and feedback of any kind for that matter – that to me is our report card and makes me super proud.
How do you run the business together and maintain a bond, despite challenges and stress a running a business can cause?
CH - WE TALK, AND WE TALK AND WE TALK SOME MORE! We have both learned that if we communicate we can help alleviate stress, overcome challenges and keep strong together. We both agree we are very passionate people and the best way we can harness that passion is to keep the talk flowing….
What about your mom and daughter inspires you?
CH – there were so many things about my mom that inspired me growing up. The ones that jump out at me was her love of family – always putting others first and the ability to always include others into our home with love in the most welcoming way. Her endless strength – she was the strongest woman I have ever met. And her ability to embrace change and never miss a beat!
How has Happy Body made you closer?
CH - We were very fortunate for a period of time to have my mother join us in the soap house. To have 3 generations all working under one roof for a few hours every day was chaotic! Loud but the best all at the same time! Life lessons shared – not just business lessons but just “girl talk” – those times I will never forget and feel so blessed that Mackenzie had that time with us both.
]]>It may seem frivolous to talk about skincare right now, but practising self-care has become more important than ever: it’s calming, familiar, and it’s a reminder to take care of ourselves. As we began to work from home, we’ve reevaluated how we should treat our skin and adjust our skincare routines. Below we’ve listed our top tips on home skincare - because why not turn “bored in the house” into an opportunity to practice more self-love?
Social distancing has many of us ditching our beauty routines as we settle into a new normal at home. It can be tempting to cut corners with our skincare routines, too, but skin experts say consistency is key. When you stray from products, you’ll notice a dull and dehydrated complexion, as well as a greater chance of breakouts. Our skin is naturally designed to fight infection and environmental stresses, and its ability to do so is affected by its pH level. Changing products and routine throw off its pH - when the skin is too alkaline it becomes dry and sensitive, increasing chances of wrinkles and unwarranted breakouts.
You’ve probably already been dealing with dry hands, especially considering we’re all washing our hands to the nth degree. Over-washing your hands can lead to disruption of the outer skin layer, causing both dryness and irritation. Not only that, but central heating can leave skin dry and parched. Whatever your skin needs, finding the right moisturizer to target areas of concern is the key to protected and healthy-looking skin. A moisturizer creates a protective layer above the skin, acting as a barrier to constant environmental factors such as stress, tiredness and pollution, and reducing the skin's water loss.
For best results, try applying your favourite cream or body butter then covering with gloves and socks for 15-20 minutes every day.
Why’d you have to go and make things so complicated? With so much time on our hands its tempting to experiment with new products and/or treat the skin more often, but it’s possible to overdo it. Too much of a good thing – like over-exfoliating your skin with multiple acids – can result in irritation, redness, dryness, and worsened breakouts. Keep it simple - stick to your routine and, if you do want to change it up, do so by introducing one product at a time.
At the end of the day, your skin will tell you what it needs. If you’re noticing your skin is dry, add more moisturizer to your routine. Regularly reflecting upon your skin's needs and identifying changes to your skin and its environment can help you to quickly update your skincare routine with the steps you need to keep your skin feeling healthy.
]]>There's never been a better or more urgent time to start making more eco-friendly choices - especially considering environmentally-conscious solutions are readily available for just about every aspect of our lives. Many of the products we use to clean our skin, the products we use to take care of ourselves - are actually pretty terrible for us and the environment. If you’re someone who’s been looking to shift to a more eco-conscious lifestyle to help save the earth, we’ve got you covered. Ahead, we give you a few tips so you can get started on your journey to a sustainable lifestyle, starting with your most basic routines: your skincare.
Did you know that only 1% of the water on Earth can actually be used by humans to drink, clean, bathe, etc.? Fresh water is a natural resource that we need to be more mindful about as the population grows. Being conscious about water conservation is simple - remember to turn off your faucet while brushing your teeth or washing your face!
Every last drop counts — this applies to both your water and your skincare products. Throwing out your bottles when there’s a bit left is also a definite no-no. It takes a bit of effort, but use up every last bit you can before giving up on your products. Get every bit of your coin's worth from them.
One of the most simple changes you can make for a more environmentally friendly skincare routine is to stop buying anything with microbeads. What is a microbead, anyway? They’re those tiny little “exfoliating” plastic pieces that are found in face washes and toothpastes. Not only are they not great for your skin, but they have harmful effects on the environment. These tiny little pieces of plastic are too small to be filtered out through our water systems, so they make their way to oceans and lakes, where they are polluting oceans and being ingested by marine life, fish and animals.
The beauty and hygiene industry is probably more prone to greenwashing than any other industry. But wait, what is greenwashing? Basically, it’s when a company markets itself as “eco” or “green,” but really isn’t. That’s why we need to look beyond the labels. Just because the label is green and the product says “Made with Natural Ingredients” doesn’t mean that it’s good for the environment or your skin. So, always dig deeper. Ask more questions, read the ingredients, get on the company’s website, and don’t hesitate to email them for further information!
Pass on all the products containing: phthalates, mercury, toluene, lead, formaldehyde, petroleum distillates, parabens (hormone-disrupting preservatives such as methylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutylparaben, and propylparaben), or BHA. These chemicals are considered to be the most detrimental to our health and subsequently our planet. Look for alternatives like: beeswax, cocoa butter and vegetable oils.
A significant component of green beauty is finding eco-friendly substitutes for the products you’re using alongside your skincare products. A simple solution is to swap out single-use cosmetic products, like makeup wipes, for reusable options like makeup-removing towels.
Making a switch to eco-friendly skincare takes time and effort. It’s not a lifestyle you can magically shift to overnight. So take it one step at a time - aim for realistic goals and don’t pressure yourself. Realistically, you can’t fully expect to be 100 per cent sustainable as we can’t really control the things being produced in the beauty market. Still, research gives us power. Making informed choices helps the world and ultimately us who live on it!
]]>Goats milk is the secret age-rewinding ingredient you need to incorporate into your skincare routine. You’ve probably heard that milk is good for your body, right? Well, there’s more to it than building strong bones or enjoying a cold glass with some cookies. Milk is a trending ingredient in the beauty and skincare world, and for good reason: Simply put, milk contains lactic acid, which has proven itself to be a superior skin-softening agent and a natural exfoliant that doesn’t set off alarm bells for irritation or dryness. While cow’s milk remains popular, when it comes to all-natural ingredients with amazing benefits, goat milk tops the list.
Let’s skim over some reasons why goat milk is the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All-Time) age-rewinding ingredient.
From acne to anti-ageing products, alpha hydroxy acids are a staple in skincare. Hydroxy acids are commonly extracted from milk, fruits, or plants and are added to a variety of skincare products. There are three types of hydroxy acids: alpha, beta, and polyhydroxy acids. All three acids are commonly used as exfoliants, which can remove dead skin, minimize acne, erase pigmentation, blur fine lines, and help stimulate new growth of smoother skin.
Lactic acid found in goat milk is one of the most common alpha-hydroxy acids in skincare. AHAs dissolve the "glue" between the complexion-dulling dead skin cells that accumulate with age, allowing them to be sloughed off, revealing fresh skin. Discolouration is minimized, pores can look smaller, and skin feels smoother. Overall, your skin is more luminous!
Dry skin is also more likely to show fine lines and wrinkles. Once skin dries out, it starts to chap, crack, and even get tiny tears in it. But don’t fret, squeaky clean skin doesn’t mean moisture-deprived - the fatty acids and triglycerides found in goats milk have moisturizing qualities that help keep skin baby soft. These essential fatty acids have a unique PH similar to humans, so it’s far less irritating than traditional cleansers and soaps and more easily absorbed by our skin. Hello hydration, goodbye pimples!
The key to youthful skin is getting rid of sweat, excess sebum, makeup and dirt accumulated on your face without stripping away essential oils. Gentle cleansers are able to fight pimples while keeping your skin looking young by retaining moisture and providing anti-aging benefits. Goat milk contains special properties that offer a natural, less harsh exfoliation for the skin, and antimicrobial properties that can eliminate and even prevent acne altogether. Lets break it down: If your skin is irritated and inflamed or delicate and dry, the last thing it needs is an abrasive product. By washing twice daily with goats milk your skin will stay clear, soft, and youthful.
Goat’s milk is naturally packed with vitamins and anti-oxidants, which as a skincare ingredient, are a healing miracle. Together Vitamins such as A, B1, B6, B12, C, D, E, etc., have a naturally regenerative effect to brighten the complexion and give way to healthy new skin. While the lactic acid scrubs away dead skin cells, vitamins promote the growth of healthier, more youthful-looking skin. Specifically, studies on Vitamin A consistently show that it can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Sun exposure is a prime suspect for quick collagen loss because UV rays penetrate deep into the skin and can damage your deep collagen support structures. Collagen gives skin strength and elasticity, and is what makes younger skin look more full, and less lined. Goat milk contains lots of selenium, which can protect skin from the damaging ultraviolet rays of the sun.
So when are you going to give goats milk skincare a try?

This year we’re buckling down on achieving real results by making skin-care resolutions that are worth sticking to. Ahead, the promises we’re keeping to make 2020 the most glowing year yet…
1. Exfoliate Regularly
Scrub away all that dirt from 2019, literally. Without exfoliation, dead skin cells can build up on the surface skin, leaving your complexion looking dull and bland. Using a face scrub eliminates the dead skin cells on top of your skin to reveal fresh looking skin. Dead skin cell build-up can also lead to clogged pores that trap oils under your skin’s surface, which leads to acne breakouts. Not only does exfoliating prevent acne, but it helps you get the most out of your skincare products by opening your pores.
For an easy homemade sugar scrub, try mixing 1/2 cup sugar with 1/2 cup coconut oil! Great for your body, face, and lips.
2. Remove Your Makeup As Soon As You Get Home
Whether you’re wearing makeup or not, your skin is a magnet for pollution, debris and grime during the day (gross, we know). All-day long you’re collecting it and your skin is fighting to preserve itself - so, the faster you get home and wash it, the faster your skin can relax and repair itself. Plus, this practice will help you get into the routine of winding down and starting your self-care routine once your workday is done. Besides, who has the energy to remove their makeup after dinner and dishes? Try our facial lotion for a gentle makeup remover that doesn’t dry out your skin!
Another important note: Never, and we mean never, sleep with make-up on. Sleeping with makeup on blocks the skin's pores, which means blackheads and acne. If you find it tricky to get in the habit of removing your make-up when you’re home, at least remove it before bed - and try to make this #1 on your 2020 resolution list.
3. Make Moisturizing a Priority
Don’t fall within the under-informed group of people who fail to recognize the importance of regular moisturization. Keeping your skin hydrated and moist is so important for its health. When the moisture is evaporated from the skin it becomes, dry, dull, cracked and irritated. Not to mention, when the humidity levels drop in the winter months it makes your skin feel dry, tight, and look flakier. We know you know what we’re talking about.
One easy fix: Keep body lotion or body butter right in the shower. Seeing it will remind you to apply it when your skin is damp, within ten minutes of turning off the water. If you wait, your skin starts losing water vapour. Try our body butter and facial lotion for fresh, moisturized, and glowing skin.
4. Clear Out Old Cosmetics
It’s recommended that you clear out all of your old cosmetics at the beginning of the year. Why? Most people aren’t aware that most makeup has a shelf life and will continue to wear makeup that’s way past its expiration date. If you wouldn’t eat food that’s gone bad, why would you apply deteriorated products to your face? Air-tight, unused products should be fine, but toss out any cosmetic that you’ve had for over a year.
Remember to do your best to protect our beautiful planet and recycle your makeup. To do so, you can:
5. Stick to Clean, Green Beauty
What goes on also goes in! Your body absorbs everything you put on your skin, and you wouldn’t choose to eat chemicals… at least we hope you wouldn’t. Using skincare goodies that are natural, cruelty-free, non-GMO/SLS free is a habit worth maintaining. Always choose green, safe skincare and say no to harsh chemicals and artificial fragrances. Your skin will thank you.
Pamper yourself this year with our clean and green luxurious skincare products, from soaps to body butter, lotion, cleanser, and bath powders!
Get glowing!
]]>My name is Mackenzie and I would like to tell you the story of our family run goat farm, and what inspired us to start creating handcrafted Goat Milk Soaps, Body Butters, Cleansers, and Bath Powders.
This is our farm. I was raised here and I continue to live and work here:
When I was born I inherited chronically dry skin from my father. My mother had no idea how to manage my skin condition, as her skin has always been oily.
As I aged, my dry skin quickly progressed. There weren't many natural treatments available, and my mother did not want to expose my sensitive skin to harsh chemicals or artificial ingredients.
My mother decided to take research into her own hands. Coincidentally, she discovered that goat milk has the potential to heal and soothe irritated and incredibly dry skin! It seemed too good to be true that the animals we were raising on our very own farm could be the solution to my skin issues.
I was given pure goat milk baths, with shocking and delightful results. My skin cleared up, and became silky smooth.
As I grew older, my mother and I continued to experiment with goat milk skin care. I no longer need to take pure goat milk baths, as we developed our luxurious line of soaps, creams, and cleansers to heal and soothe my skin!
We are so happy that we are able to share my story, and our products, with the world. While we began our sales of soaps solely in local farmers' markets, in 2016 we opened up our online store. We now ship our products all over the world, providing all natural skin care solutions to our wonderful and ever growing loyal customers!
Thank you so much for supporting us in our journey, and we hope you enjoy our products as much as we enjoy creating them!
]]>skin!
It's time to celebrate a return to silky smooth skin! (But we recommend keeping your gloves on).
Ingredient 1: Oats
Oats are delicious, packed with nutrients, and can work miracles on your skin!
Oatmeal on it's own does not have any moisturizing benefits, but when combined with other key ingredients it can leave your skin dewy and glowing. Oatmeal is a humectant, which means it is incredible at retaining and preserving moisture. Therefore, when used in beauty recipes that contain things such as farm fresh goat milk, it assists the skin by making it easier to absorb and lock in moisture.
Our gently exfoliating Honey and Almond Goat Milk Soap Bar was made with the benefits of oatmeal in mind. This bar is most beneficial when followed up with a Body Butter, as the oats in the bar will help your body retain the moisture in the lotion.
Ingredient 2: Honey
Treat your skin to this sweet ingredient if you want clear pores and a dewy appearance
Honey infused beauty products are a must for winter weather! Raw honey is loaded with nutrients that will help your skin moisturize throughout the entire day. It is a naturally antibacterial ingredient, which means that it is wonderful at preventing and treating acne, blackheads, and clogged pores. It opens up your pores which makes them incredibly easy to unclog, and it leaves you with soft, luscious skin.
We recommend concluding your beauty routine with our Milk and Honey Body Butter, or our Apricot and Honey Body Butter if you prefer a slightly sweeter scent. Both pair incredibly well with our Honey and Almond Goat Milk Soap, and they will assist in repairing damaged and irritated skin.
Ingredient 3: Almonds
It is said that Cleopatra regularly incorporated almonds in her diet and beauty regimen, and there is science backing up this Queen's opinion!
Almonds are loaded with vitamin-E, which is known for it's ability to moisturize and soothe irritated skin. It is therefore beneficial in anti-aging beauty routines, and for healing skin in the harsh winter climate. It is also packed with fatty acids and plenty of vitamins which boost hair growth and eliminate dandruff.
Our products containing almond oil, such as our Natural Body Butter, are ideal for anyone who suffers from dry, flaky skin, or for anyone who wants fresh, glowing skin.
What steps do you take to keep your skin soft and moisturized throughout the winter? Comment below and let us know about your favourite product or beauty routine!
]]>Let’s take a look back…
2008, we were vendors at the Saturday Peterborough Farmer’s market selling only goat meat and soap.
2009, Cindy decided to explore the potential for dairy by attending mentoring with two cheese makers and attending the university of Guelf.
2010, the dream became a reality, an on-farm production facility was created. Cross Wind Farm’s fluid milk production began! The goat milk and feta were an instant success. The line grew over the years to include an aged cheddar and specialty seasonal cheeses.
2016, because of demand around the goat milk soap, the Happy Body Collection was born. A line of healthy goat milk body products including a wide range of soap scents, some silky body butters and lovely facial cleanses. The Happy Body Collection provides a natural moisturizer and the amazing scents will soothe your soul.

Here are 5 benefits of goat milk soap:
Benefit #1: Contains Vitamins
Goat milk is very high in Vitamin A which reduces wrinkles and lines, helps minimize acne and repairs damages skin tissue.

Benefit #3: Contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids
These acids found in goat milk help remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. By removing dead skin cells, this can help many conditions related to skin issues.

When we developed our Pink Sugar Body Butter last year, we decided to break a few barriers and create a thicker composition than I was making for my family. This thicker butter works well to replenish the skins ph level, when your skin has a little moisture left on after showering. Struggling with oily skin my whole life I sought out products to dry my skin, then our daughter was born. Wishing so much that she would not take on my skin issues, she in fact didn’t get mine but she took on my husbands! Which was worse for me as our skin could not be more polar opposite! Extremely dry skin along with the dreaded red blotches and bumps on her arms and torso. I wanted to be so careful to do the right thing for her but at a young age there was not much available that was all natural! So I started my research. If you could imagine at the same time we were developing our farm into a goat dairy milking farm and guess what – I had the answer literally in my back yard!
Mackenzie was bathed in pure goat milk and the results were amazing! A simple and natural product that seemingly solved her issues. Now at 12 , I can honestly say she no longer bathes in goat milk but continues with our goat milk products that I created on a daily basis. For her and others it seems to be a wonderful solution. When I see pictures from clients of the difference our products have made in their lives I am so thrilled that we stumbled upon this solution for us to share with others! I guess there was truth in the fable that Cleopatra had a beauty secret - Her secret was not revealed in hieroglyphics nor has an ancient papyrus come to light uncovered by an archaeologist digging in the Valley of the Queens. It is a well known fact that ancient peoples drank goat milk rather than cow milk and we suspect that Cleo bathed her seductive body in the milk of Nubian goats.
If it worked for The Queen of The Nile, it could work for you!
Highlights of my research had revealed –
I would suggest trying our Natural soap bar (click here to find out more) for your body along with our Natural Body Butter for getting out of the shower and of course our Natural Facial Cleanse - no essential oils added for scent, no botanicals added and no vegetable colouring added!
Just a pure line to get you started.
